Lymphoma is a very diverse group of lymphoid malignancies. The prevalence of lymphoma varies from 48 cases per 100,000 population at 3 years of diagnosis, to 72 cases per 100,000 at 5 years of diagnosis. The Indonesian Ministry of Health’s Data and Information Center records that there are approximately 1,000 people diagnosed with lymphoma every day in the world. In Indonesia alone, recorded in Globocan 2018 data, around 35,490 people were diagnosed with lymphoma in the last five years and 7,565 people died. Some benign lesions often have a lymphoma-like morphology. The speed and sophistication of scientific progress, coupled with the breadth of laboratory research required to make an accurate diagnosis.
The role of the pathologist is very important in diagnosing lymphoma or not lymphoma both histopathologically and immunohistopathologically. Therefore, it is necessary to update knowledge and skills in differentiating the lesion from a lymphoma or a benign lesion that resembles a lymphoma. With histopathological examination and supported by appropriate immunohistochemical examination, a pathologist can make an accurate diagnosis so that the patient can receive the right treatment. Updating of knowledge in supporting pathologists to improve the quality of diagnosis is needed continuously. However, these difficulties become a challenge to continue to carry out scientific updating activities. Therefore we intend to hold an event BANDUNG CONTINUE PATHOLOGY EDUCATION 2023, “Update WHO Classification of Hematolymphoid Tumors 2022” This activity is a routine activity once a year held by the Department of Anatomical Pathology, Faculty of Medicine, Padjadjaran University. In this activity, we invited Prof. Tan Soo Yong MBBS, DipRCPath, FRCPath, DMJ (Path), and DPhil (Oxon) from National University Hospital (NUH) Singapore to gain experience and skills in lymphoma.
